Fonterra is the world's top processor of milk, according to a new study. The report claims that the company is ahead of other global giants like Nestle, Dairy Farmers of America, Danone and Kraft. The company is processing 2.7 per cent of the world's milk while the next biggest player, Dairy Farmers of America, is processing 2.3 per cent, according to a study by global industry research group International Farm Compensation Network (IFCN).rnMore than 600 milk processors from over 70 countries were benchmarked in the study.rnFonterra's result puts it ahead of big global players in terms of volume of milk processed in 2007. About 80 per cent of Fonterra's milk comes from 10,500 New Zealand suppliers.rnThe company's chief executive Andrew Ferrier says the study results reflected the global reach and scale of Fonterra's operations.
