Yogurts have evolved a long way from the usual set plain types. The number of new yogurt launches peaked in 2011, according to Mintel's GNPD records, with spoonable yogurt representing around three in four of all new yogurt variants launched between 2007 and 2012, reflecting the segment's dominance in sales.In terms of the number of new products/ new variants launched, 2011 was a record year for yogurts. Retailer own brands have been driving the increase in new product activity, having steadily become more prominent in the yogurt sector over the past six years, representing over two fifths of new launches in 2011.
