Q. What issues has the AD industry faced in the UK recently regarding FITs? How is that affecting the progress of new projects? The anaerobic digestion (AD) industry is deeply concerned by the limitations to support for one of the most cost-effective, low-carbon baseload energy technologies, particularly because of its impact on the farming industry. While the government's decision to re-introduce pre-accreditation under the feed-in tariff (FIT) scheme was essential for operators to secure the necessary investor confidence to finance the deployment of additional AD capacity, the ridiculously low deployment cap will have the opposite effect, significantly curtailing future growth.
