In waste, zero is a good number to have. Zero liquid discharge (ZLD), a liquid*waste stream treatment, involves transforming liquid waste streams from industrial plants into clean water. The water can be reused in the ZLD process, and the minimum amount of solid residues remaining often include valuable by-products that can be sold or reused.
