In recent years, this prolific author has written a number of books and monographs in cryptography, some of which translated into English. Schmeh justly states in the introduction to this 2009 publication that although "there have been several books dealing with the history of cryptography" there are virtually none on steganography (p. 3).1 And while there probably were more than just "several books" on the history of cryptography, he is right, nonetheless: Steganography has been discussed in current standard works on the history of cryptology but never received primary attention.
