Regular readers of this column may realize I do not like change. Change requires a person to leave his or her comfort zone, and for me, this can lead to frustration, especially if I implement one that turns out to be a mistake. The adage "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" is one I strive to live by. However, the world is changing and I have accepted that I, too, need to make changes. I recently made a change that impacts my operating habits in the ham shack and on the trail ... I retired my sealed lead-acid (gel-cell) batteries and replaced them with lithium-ion battery packs. This month, we look at two rechargeable battery packs I purchased for powering my QRP equipment and discuss another upcoming change that will impact (hopefully for the better) operation at the home QTH and on the trail.
