Project Evergreen is the UK rail sector's first design, build, finance and transfer project. Alasdair Reisner unpicks the structure that has kept the project on time and on budget. David Balcomb points to a sign on the wall. It is one of the type becoming more common at sites across the country as contractors try to drill various messages into their staff. This one carries just a single word: connectivity. "That is what this project is all about," says Mr Balcomb. "It is all parts of the team working together rather than against each other."
