About 38 per cent less construction work was put on hold last month than in the first month of the year, figures have revealed.rnThe latest project hold statistics from business intelligence unit Glenigan show that £3.4 billion of work was brought to a halt in April compared with £5.5bn in January.rnThe figures reveal a steady improvement throughout the year to date, providing another tentative sign of encouragement for the construction industry.rnAll sectors, with the exception of civil engineering and education, saw a drop in the amount of work being delayed. But £16.9bn of work has still been put on hold in the UK since Christmas.
