Fewer companies saw their civils workloads deteriorate in the first quarter of 2009 than at the end of 2008, research says.rnThe latest Civil Engineering Contractors Association workload trends survey revealed that the civils downturn slowed in the first quarter of 2009. Contractors said that the overall downward trend, which started in July 2008, was getting progressively weaker.rnSmaller firms showed a positive change, with a balance of 52 per cent of companies employing fewer than 115 operatives reporting workloads down on a year ago; down from 59 per cent in January.
