The Civil Engineering Contractors Association is lobbying for changes to procurement practices next year that could save the industry hundreds of millions of pounds. The trade association has called for the introduction of standard reference forms and price indexation schemes for long-term contracts. Indexing price changes in long contracts against measures such as the price of materials or energy used rather than general measures of inflation could provide greater financial certainty for clients and contractors, according to Alasdair Reisner, Ceca's head of industry affairs.
