The industrial and private housing sectors represent the only bright spots in what is otherwise a weak set of figures for the North-east. A number of medium-sized jobs in these sectors entered the pipeline over the period, with private housing's performance particularly impressive given the weakness of the region's housing market relative to the rest of the UK.
