95% of school buildings in England need repair work

Schools in the East of England are in greatest need of repair, according to a survey of the English school estate which revealed that 95 per cent of school buildings require maintenance work. The Property Data Survey Programme surveyed almost 19,000 schools in England built before 2004, accounting for around 85 per cent of the entire school estate. It surveyed the individual buildings, or 'blocks', at each school, and graded 49 of the building components on a scale from A ('good') to D Chad').
