A fire experts' group has called for the government to issue a complete ban on all combustible materials in construction. In the wake of the Bolton student flats fire (above), the Fire Protection Association said a ban on the use of combustible material in buildings over 18 m does not go far enough. Fire Protection Association managing director Jonathan O'Neill (pictured) said that the blaze, as well as recent fires in a four-storey block of flats in south-west London, and a care home in Cheshire, show that the risks of flammable material extend beyond high-rise buildings.
