[Also in Division HI] A pyrotechnical actuator for a switch comprises a member 19a which is displaceable within a casing 1 under the action of resilient means 20 when the heat of combustion of a charge 3 melts a metal retainer 12, the member 19a being maintained in the displaced position by residual action of the resilient means. The charge 3 is ignited electrically and consists of 30-70% of barium nitrate or lead dioxide and from 30- 70% of silicon alloy, zirconium, zirconium hydride, aluminium, magnesium alloy or boron. In another embodiment (Fig. 3, not shown), the displaceable member is retained against outward displacement by a wire (33).
