Overall, one-quarter of SME building contractors reported difficulties recruiting general on-site trades in the three months to April 2020. In addition to fewer difficulties in recruiting on-site trades such as bricklayers, plasterers and carpenters, SME contractors also reported an easing in difficulties with the recruitment of roofers (21%), one-fifth of respondents reported difficulties in the recruitment of plumbers and 17% with the recruitment of painters & decorators during the period.
