Hitachi compact Zaxis excavator models ZX135US-3 and ZX85USBLC-3 are said to be well-suited to confined job sites such as urban utility installation projects. In Geneva, Switzerland, for example, a 15.4 tonne ZX135US-3 is operating on a new housing development for contractor Michel & Fils - clearing the 1,000m2 plot, preparing ground works and installing the water, gas and drainage pipes. Michel & Fils director Thierry Michel said, "Zaxis excavators have proved to be a sound investment because of their high secondhand values. The ZX135US-3, in particular, has proved to be a useful addition to our fleet. It is a narrow, yet powerful machine and is ideal for earthmoving." Meanwhile, an 8 tonne class Hitachi ZX85USBLC-3 has been put to use by contractor Ropraz for the earthmoving, drainage, utilities and ground works for a project at Pringy, Switzerland.
