The EU stage IIIB/US Tier 4 Interim laws that came into force at the start of 2011 required all manufacturers of diesel engines for construction equipment to introduce aftertreatment systems, and the need to accommodate new and large components into the equipment has been a major challenge for the industry. Italian manufacturer of track mobile crushers Omtrack, part of the Belgian Keestrack group, worked with John Deere to install its first EU stage IIIB/US Tier 4 Interim engine into one of its Argo Mobile Jaw crushers. With a peak power of 164kW, the Powertech Plus 6068HFC94 diesel engine uses EGR and a DPF to meet the 2011 emissions laws. The engine is 1.16m long and the DPF has a diameter of 320mm and is 823mm long.
