摘要

Innovative confectionery and sweet bakery companies will be able from this month (July) to explore applying for research funding from the European Union's (EU) Horizon Europe programme, which has a budget of around €95.5 billion. This spending will last until 2027, with companies needing to form international consortia focused on food, ingredients and packaging projects to have the best chance of securing funding. UK companies can participate under a deal secured by the British government. Furthermore, Germany's confectionery industry association, BDSI, has raised concerns about a new German supply chain law, warning it could force confectioners to abandon useful suppliers. The law says companies should ensure suppliers are not directly or indirectly associated with human rights violations and environmental destruction. If they are, German companies must take countermeasures and document the problems with a federal office for economic affairs and export control (BAFA).
