摘要

The structural application of steel-fibre-reinforced concrete (SFRC) to elevated slab construction in the UK appears to have a formidable hurdle to overcome in terms of resistance to change. Resistance has primarily been one of the difficulty in understanding the basic concept and the availability of impartial R&D or test data. It seems that for contractors and clients alike, the main barrier is psychological. The absence of a defined structural zone within a concrete element that contains reinforcement of a familiar size and weight requires a leap of faith for some that is difficult to overcome. Despite the fact that the global knowledge and experience gained by working with SFRC has grown exponentially in the past 20 years, there are still those who doubt the validity of design, production and quality contol methods currently available.
