Cuts to South America/Europe

CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd and Hamburg-Sud are combining their container liner services between the east coast of South America and Europe to remove capacity from the trade.rnThe carriers now offer a joint weekly service of two loops, replacing the SAFRAN service operated by CMA CGM and Maruba and the two SAEC service operated by Hapag-Lloyd.rnThe carriers claim that the changes better match capacity to market demand and improve frequency and transit time with more vessels deployed. The service includes additional port calls at Salvador de Bahia and Suape and use of slow steaming will reduce fuel consumption and CO~2 emissions.
