Corrosion detection system using mobile Raman spectroscopy for offshore structures

Offshore structures are exposed to severe environmental conditions inducing corrosion problems. In order to protect and maintain offshore structures, corrosion of structure should be surveilled within proper monitoring system. For the corrosion monitoring system, the chemical compounds of corrosion parts should be detected and analyzed. Raman spectroscopy is a well-known technique to measure oxide compounds such as steel corrosion. In this study, a new Raman spectroscopy system was developed for ofishore structures and verification testing was carried out for steel corrosion samples.
