US Government to standardise desktop configuration

US Government agencies are to adopt a standard computer desktop configuration. Agencies, which are upgrading their PCs to Microsoft Windows XP or Vista, have until February to adopt the Federal Desktop Core Configuration Standard. Representatives from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) believe security will get better across departments when the standard is brought into effect.
