Advances in coding and compression

摘要

The significant activity that has taken place in China on source coding is reviewed. This includes three of the most important source coding techniques used for speech compression-waveform coders, vocoders, and hybrid coders-and a number of techniques used to implement image compression. Two other areas of active communications research, channel coding and cryptography, are discussed.
