摘要

WHILST the various concerted and coordinated measures currently being taken to control the piracy situation in the Gulf of Aden seem to be working - the number of successful attacks against shipping have dropped to below 30% in the past two months - the situation has reignited debate on how best to tackle the problem.rnVarious individual measures have been implemented in the Gulf of Aden that include using drones to hunt pirates and sending reports and photos of suspect vessels to the naval control centres, which then disseminates this information to other ships in the international coalition patrolling the region. At the same time nations such as the UK and US have made agreements with Kenya to try captured pirates, and other nations have stepped up their capture of pirates.
