KIA INTRODUCES THE RAY EV, KOREA'S FIRST PRODUCTION ELECTRIC VEHICLE

Kia Motors introduced Korea's first battery electric vehicle (BEV) in Seoul in December for sale exclusively in the domestic Korean market.Kia expects to build 2,500 Ray EVs in 2012 for use in government agency fleets.The new Kia BEV is a zero emissions city car with a driving range of up to 139 kilometers (km) on a single charge.It is a close relative of Kia's 1.0 liter gasoline powered Ray CUV, which went on sale in Korea in November 2011.It shares that model's major dimensions and, in a global first for a BEV manufacturer, it shares the same production line.
