デジタル印刷技術と印刷用紙の動向について:drupa2016にみる高速インクジェット印刷技術を支えるメディア達

This report illustrates the recent trend of digital print technology in drupa 2016 from a viewpoint of paper. Before bringing up the main subjects, it explains about the history of existing printing methods and the DRUPA,the world's largest printing exhibition in Dusseldorf, Germany. Furthermore, it brings out the relationship between printing paper and a printing method on conventional and digital print, including each feature. We, MPM continue to claim that“When a printing method change, a printing paper also change”. This speaks for itself in history since Gutenberg's era. The summary of water-based inkjet print technology in drupa 2016 was divided into four main classes:1. faster, 2. lager, 3.higher definition, and 4. more diverse. Many printer makers(OEMs)released high-speed inkjet web presses with high definition(1,200 dpi), and demonstrated to enable variety media to print on variety applications. Particularly, some OEMs provided the solutions how print on offset coated paper using aqueous inks. These solutions were classified into three ways:1. priming solution, 2. direct print without any primer, and 3. intermediate transfer system. This report makes mention of feature of the ways. Generally, an inkjet technology is simple in structure, comparing with electrophotographic system. However, this technology consists of multi technologies:Jetting(Print-head), Dot Formation(Inks), Media(Paper), System (Conveying&Drying), Image Processing (Correction&C.M.), and Data Processing (Workflow). Therefore, the production inkjet technology needs new“Architectural Knowledge”. As one of these technologies, new media is crucial for a new printing method. Actually, there is a lot of unique job now in advertising and publishing. The jobs are expanding as suitable digital print solution using digital marketing. Holding the key to the market expansion is“Link”，that is evolutionally advanced workflow technology. The digital print market would break through as a major printing market by taking advantage of the technologies.%What They Thinkに「デジタル印刷は熱い.しかし，まだ市場は小さい」という趣旨の記事が出たのは2013年のPRINT'13が開催された頃だったと思う.4年に一度シカゴで開催される北米最大の印刷機材展は，世界最大の印刷機材展drupa2012の翌年にもかかわらず，また北米が世界でもっともデジタル印刷の先進地域なのにもかかわらず，である.あれから3年ほど経ち世界のデジタル印刷ソリューションはどの程度普及し，技術はどの程度進歩したのであろうか.
