A MORE RELAXED PLANNING CONTROL SYSTEM?

It is now more than 12 months since the Strategy Unit report 'Waste Not Want Not' recommended an improvement in the planning process for waste facilities. It stated that an effectively functioning land use planning system is essential to secure best use of land and location of facilities. This will become increasingly important in the future, as more waste facilities are required to deal with growing waste volumes and diversion from landfill. How time flies -the 'future' talked of a year ago is already with us and the prevarication over planning consents continues to exacerbate the situation.
