The key recruitment issue currently facing the waste industry is sourcing suitably qualified, experienced members of staff. It's an obvious statement, but pretty much every job description we see at WasteRecruit outlines the need to recruit exactly the right sort of candidate. For example, consultancies tend to need candidates with prior consultancy experience; operators prefer candidates who have prior experience of collection and disposal in all its guises; local authorities require candidates familiar with municipal waste management, policy and strategy. Additionally, though the pool of suitable candidates is relatively deep, location and salary often narrow the choice significantly.
