Bryson Calls For An End To 'Routine Vandalism'

"The exasperating and routine vandalism of a country so rich in natural, cultural and built heritage," is how Bill Bryson, president of the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE), described the blight of litter in Britain during the launch of a joint report with environmental think tank, Policy Exchange. In his foreword to the report, Bryson said: "The many millions of visitors from overseas are genuinely puzzled that we can allow this beauty to be casually despoiled in a way which... simply doesn't happen in much of the rest of Europe or the United States."
