Introduction

Welcome to this very special issue of the CIWM journal although it feels somehow strange to "welcoming" our members and subscribers tornsomething celebrating its centenary!rnNonetheless, it gives me great pleasure to pen this introduction, not only on behalf of our current editor and his team, but for all those who have gone before them. As Ben explains further over the page, it wasn't until relatively recently that an "editor" in the true sense of the word was actually employed, while a designer came even later. I think the results of bringing the journal into the "modern age" are clear to see. While our early editions were undoubtedly informative, they certainly didn't lend themselves to a bit of "light reading"!
