There is nothing the lazy journalist (into which category I loosely fall) enjoys more than a survey; it is easy copy and provides one with the opportunity to propound the opinions of others, whether we believe them or not! If that survey debunks medical opinion on diet, red meat, chocolate or red wine consumption, then it is so much more satisfying for the reader. Similarly, if it is a survey that appears to be aligned with public thinking it is equally satisfying. So a European survey that reaffirms our own views on national stereotyping is something we simply can't resist.
