Budget Welcomed

Key Policy changes introduced in Chancellor George Osborne's budget in March, including the "streamlining" of the planning system and the establishment of the Green Investment Bank, have been broadly welcomed by the waste industry. The Chancellor announced a major overhaul of the planning system, by the introduction of a 12-month limit on the processing of all planning applications and appeals and a new presumption in favour of sustainable development, in an attempt to remove the present obstacle to the development of waste infrastructure in the UK.
