PetroChina Makes Exploration Breakthroughs in Indonesia

Based on the information made available from PetroChina headquarters on November 20, breakthroughs have been made in PetroChina's Indonesia project with the high-yield oil and gas flow found in the first batch of exploration wells - Piano-1, Gambang-2 and Ripah-3. PetroChina International Company acquired the Indonesian assets of US-based Devon Energy Inc in 2002, which involved six blocks. PetroChina has made comprehensive study of the six blocks and detailed assessment of the 36 existing traps in those blocks since it took over the assets. It finally deployed eight preliminary exploration wells and three assessment wells this year on the basis of optimization and selection. Drilling of the first three wells has been just completed in recent time.
