WHILE SO MANY BOOKS have been written on the subject of management, those I've read could generally be summarized in the title of the book to such an extent that it wasn't really necessary to go to the trouble of reading the entire treatise. In Execution (The Discipline of Getting Things Done), it took the author a few hundred pages to say that it's important to actually do what you say you are going to and to take action. So I'm a bit cynical about the value of many business books, especially those written by people who have never run an organization. These ideas that have guided me through the years and may or may not have value to anyone else. Most of us must learn from our own experiences rather than from what others have been through. But here goes...
