A 31-Year-Old Man With Chronic Cough and Hemoptysis

A 31-year-old man presents for further evaluationnof chronic cough and hemoptysis. His cough hasnbeen present for the past 5 years. Although thencough was nonproductive initially, hemoptysis hasndeveloped over the past year and a half. Since thatntime, he produces blood-tinged sputum daily. Henreports occasional chest tightness and mild shortnessnof breath, which is worse with exercise or changes inntemperature. On occasion, his cough becomes sonsevere that it is associated with nausea. He deniesnfever, chills, weight loss, night sweats, abdominalnpain, or vomiting.
