There has been a great deal written in recent months about the government's proposed climate change levy. Most of the coverage has been negative, largely because of fierce lobbying by a small number of energy-intensive sectors. Since these industries are currently in negotiations with the government for lower energy tax rates, the hyperbole in their public statements is not surprising. Nobody ever got the best deal by telling the truth from the start. However, a closer look reveals the facts beneath the hype.
