New ordinance package comes into effect with the 17th BlmSchV (Federal Pollution Control Ordinance)

The European directive on industrial emissions (2010/75/EU) that came into effect in January 2011 has prompted a series of changes in German plant-related legislation and in the associated ordinances covering pollution control. The provisions of the directive had to be implemented in national law within two years. In Germany the legislature has used this as an opportunity, among other things, to further tighten the emission limits for waste (co-)incineration plants laid down in the 17th Federal Pollution Control Ordinance (BlmSchV). In particular, the future NO_x limits and the introduction of an NH_3 limit represent a great challenge for the cement industry.
