Assessing Vegetation and Land Cover Changes in Northeastern Puerto Rico: 1978-1995

摘要

The purpose of this study was to explore the use of geospatial tools for monitoring and assessing vegetation resources in Puerto Rico. Using Remote Sensing and Geogrpahical Information System techniques, vegetation and other land-cover changes were examined over a 70,527 ha area in norheastern Puerto Rico between 1978 and 1995. Land use/land cover in 1978 was obtained from an existing digital map, While data for 1995 were derived through classification of a SPOT multispectral satellite image.
