摘要

Meso-carbon microbeads (MCMB) of uniform diameter have proved to have unique applications. Although there have been many studies on the preparation of MCMB, their yield and homogeneity of diameter have never been satisfactory. MCMB with a uniform diameter around 1 - 10 μm have been recognized as critical in practical applications. AR-isotropic pitch derived from pure aromatic hydrocarbons using the super acid HF/BF_3 as the catalyst, exhibited a homogeneous composition or narrow molecular weight distribution, high purity and high carbonization yield as compared with the conventional petroleum and coal-tar pitches, being favorable for the production of MCMB with a uniform diameter at a high yield as reported in a previous paper, although further control is still needed.
