PURPOSE: To provide an MCMB sphere producible without using a step for mixing a binder with separated MCMB because the pitch component having uniformly covered outer surface plays a role of a binder in forming and capable of giving a uniformly formed and carbonized product or a uniformly dormed and graphitized product. ;CONSTITUTION: This process for producing MCMB sphere having a pitch component layer of 0-10μm thick covering the surface of the sphere comprises the heat-treatment of a coal-based heavy oil, the addition of 0.1-20 pts.wt. of a tar middle oil having a boiling point range of 100-500°C to 1 pt.wt. of the produced crude MCmB and the washing of the product at 10-300°C for 0.1-20hr.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
