JAPANESE PRODUCTION AND IMPORT-EXPORT TRADE OF CANNED FOODS IN 2014

Japanese annual production of canned and bottled foods decreased and amounted to 3,206,720 metric tons in 2014, which was 98.7% of the previous year production. Among these products, canned provisions have increased by 0.9% from 231,036 tons in 2013 to 233,127 tons in 2014. In the sector-by-sector production, fisheries, vegetables, meats and specialties products increased from the previous year. In the item-by-item, mackerel, mandarin orange, sweet corn, which greatly decreased last year, increased.
