BW charity plans 'still on the cards'

Despite the change of government, British Waterways' proposals to switch from being a nationalised industry to a charity or other non-government 'Third Sector' body are still under consideration - and might take in the Environment Agency's river navigations too.rn"The Government considers civil society has a very valuable role to play in delivering public services as part of our commitment to delivering a Big Society," said new Waterways Minister Richard Benyon in a written statement. "We will therefore be continuing to look in detail at whether a Third Sector model would be appropriate for BW."
