SPLIT DIODES AND VOLTAGE DROPS

Q When it comes to alternator charging, especially the voltage drop on a split diode system, I seem to recall you could run a wire from the battery positive back to the alternator positive or the ignition light wire, and put a diode in it. This acted as a sensing wire, but because it had a diode in it the alternator saw this as a voltage drop and ran at a higher voltage so counteracting the drop in voltage of the diodes in the split circuit.
