Top notch was perhaps the most impressive new boat builder at this year's show. The firm had two boats, designed to show all their ideas: one was a standard layout fitted out in oak, while this boat is a reverse layout using cherry wood. The origins of the company help explain the superb standard of workmanship on show. Jonathan Johnson has run a bespoke joinery company for 30 years but is also a boater, so has combined his business with his hobby. The cherry boat, on a Tyler Wilson shell, has a stylish galley at the rear, with painted doors and pale granite worktops. The dinette has a beautifully built table and a concealed drop-down spare bed.
