Move Steve Haywood on!

I can't support a Canal Boat that commissions the articles under the name of Steve Haywood. Whoever pens them seems to relish the fact that the canal network is run by personalities who are just not capable of matching the experience, know-how or commitment that Steve would bring. The articles seem to crave the adulation of the 'grumpy boater' brigade - mercifully a tiny minority of the canal community. The articles always set out to foster a divisive 'them and us' attitude. The March column has swipes, as usual, at numerous people and judges their continuing behaviour outrageous. Among these he names Robin Evans (CRT) Clive Henderson (IWA) and 'gobbler regional chairmen of the IWA'. He describes the actions of the IWA as despicable. And the column implies that the canals should be run almost exclusively for the benefit of his very exclusive 'grumpy boaters community'.
