Something fishy in the Don

Back In The 1970s, the Yorkshire Don was reckoned to be one of the most polluted rivers in the country, but now salmon could be brought back to the river.The Don Catchment Rivers Trust has received initial support from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) to develop plans for its Living Heritage of the River Don project, which aims to enhance and celebrate its rich industrial heritage. A grant of more than £81,000 will be used to prepare an application for a full grant for the project, which will include work to encourage the once prolific salmon to return to the River Don.
