A trumpet-like honking, picked up by surrounding geese, and the flock of Canadas take to the wing in an impressive V formation - a sure sign that autumn is approaching. This flight formation makes forward vision and communication easier and increases the efficiency of flying by reducing the air resistance for all but the leading goose: birds take turns flying at the tips and front of the V to reduce fatigue.
