After getting back last October from our belated summer Covid delayed cruise our boat has not been used or started since. However, this morning I decided to run the engine but before I did gave the engine a general look over and spotted what appeared to be a streak of oil that had run down the side of the engine. It was difficult to see exactly where it was coming from but with the use of a mirror it appeared to have come from where one of the flanges that bolts the manifold onto the engine. Could this be an oil leak, I did manage to tighten all the manifold fixing nuts, wiped the engine clean and ran it for three hours and it stayed clean. I've checked the colour of the oil on the dip stick which was very black as I haven't done an oil change yet ready for the new season, whenever that might start. The engine runs fine with no serious smoking and the problem must have just started towards the end of our cruise last year as I'm always generally looking over the engine whilst out cruising.
