Steaming up the Cut

The Steamboat Association of Great Britain is one of the most active and enthusiastic groups of boat owners and builders. There are currently over 450 vessels listed in the annual register, and most of these are still in regular use. Many of them are trailable -which to a steam boater means anything that can be hauled out of the water and towed behind a Land Rover Discovery. This includes vessels of anything up to 30ft and more, whose declared weights are triumphs of optimism over the laws of gravity. As a result of this, the Association always has a large attendance at its full calendar of meetings and rallies every year around the waterways of Britain, with regular visits also to the Continent.
