When it conies to keeping processed, packaged deli meats looking and tasting fresh for as long as possible, light is not a packaging challenge to be taken lightly. That's what South African food-retailing heavyweight Woolworths (Proprietary) Ltd. recently discovered when switching over the packaging of its branded, pre-sliced deli meats to an open-display format that would do a better job of enticing consumers to purchase the tasty cold-cuts.
